Thursday - July 23

We headed into town later in the day to visit some families that were in need of our food baskets. We went to about 7 households, some with as many as 8 people, including sick family members and children. We read the day's Gospel reading in both Portuguese and English. It was about the need to focus our eyes, listen with our ears, and open up our hearts to understanding and loving God. This is relevant to our pilgrimage, as we must learn from our experiences and accept God and how he works through us to do great things. If we do not look and listen in order to gain something from this pilgrimage to take back into our lives at home, then there is not much point in going on such a trip. We also said Hail Mary and Our Father prayers with the families.

We also went to the beach briefly that evening. Here are a couple picture of us and the Brazilian teens that spent the day with us.
